Milford Sound is a fiord – early explorers mistook it for a sound because of the shape of the entry – is located in the southwest of South Island in New Zealand.
It is best known for multitude of cascading waterfalls, covered rainforests, numerous peaks including the towering Mitre peak and sea life such as fur seal colonies, penguins and dolphins.
The Stirling and Bowen water falls look stunning when it rains as seen in the video below. Milford Sound is also a region with the highest rainfall in the year. In fact the day I visited Milford Sounds it rained almost all day. But the rain and clouds made all the photos look mystical.
Take a boat cruise if you go to Milford Sounds.
